Participation as a Member and a Pledge

There are five requirements for transition to membership for all pledges:

  1. Must pledge for a minimum of one academic semester (fall or spring semester).
  2. Must continue to be a degree seeking student at Rutgers University – Camden, majoring in accounting, finance, or management information systems.
  3. Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, or rank within the top 35% of university class, or have a 3.25 GPA on last 30 semester hours with at least a 3.0 grade point average in all upper level courses in the declared major attempted.
  4. Must complete at least one 300 level class in declared major of accounting, finance or management information system.
  5. Must maintain good status in the Kappa Gamma Chapter in that:
        A) Must attend to at least 4 hours of the chapter’s professional meetings per semester
        B) Must participate in at least 4 hours in the chapter’s community service activities per semester.

Once you have submitted all of the required paperwork, your application will be reviewed to ensure that you have met all of the requirements that are set forth in the chapter by-laws.

Upon being accepted as a member of the Kappa Gamma Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi you will be expected to participate in the organization. Because we are associated with a National organization there are requirements that we, as a chapter, must meet in order to maintain our distinguished status. In order to maintain a distinguished status each member must obtain a minimum of 100 points of participation per semester.
 

There are three components that make up each members participation points:

  1. Professional Points (40 points per semester)
  2. Service Points (40 points per semester)
  3. Miscellaneous Points (20 points per semester)

Professional Points:  (40 Points Required per Semester)

  • BAP Points
        10 points per meeting
  • Professional Accounting
        5 points per meeting
        Limited to two meetings per semester
  • Finance Meetings
        5 points per meeting
        Limited to two meetings per semester
  • Example of Minimum Requirements
        3 BAP Meetings (30 points)
        1 Accounting Society Meeting (5 points)
        1 Finance Association Meeting (5 points)

Service Points:  (40 Points Required per Semester)

  • 20 points per service event
        Two hour minimum to earn 20 points
  • Community Service
        Example:  Camden Angels
  • Fundraising Events
        Example:  The Heart Walk

Miscellaneous Hours:  (20 Points Required per Semester)

  • Social Points
        10 points per event
        Examples:  Alumni Event, BAP activity with other BAP Chapters
  • Tutoring
        5 points per hour
        Tutoring in either Accounting or Finance
  • Business Etiquette Dinner (10 Points)
  • Business Success Panel (10 Points)
  • Tours (10 Points)
